First Impressions: Icebird for iPhone

I never thought I’d enjoy using another Twitter client more than Tweetie 2, but Icebird ($3.99) is a refreshing change. It’s a simpler, roomier Twitter client. The major difference so far is the lack of interface clutter: Tweetie was already pretty minimal on UI elements, but Icebird is downright spartan (sometimes to a fault). Tweets are spaced farther apart, and there is no extra navigation bar at the bottom of the screen.

Instead, you’ll manage and view the different aspects of your account on a beautifully designed main HUB — and you’ll have one of these hubs for every Twitter account you log into. This does mean that navigation goes a little slower than you might like at times (tap out of timeline to get to main menu, tap again to go to replies), but I liken this UI to the the award-winning design of Things, the popular task manager for Mac and iPhone.

I’ve only had the app for a few days (full review soon), but the initial impressions are great, and I’m enjoying the bigger window into Twitter that Icebird provides.
