Apple Pushes iPhone OS 4 Beta 2, SDK to Developers

Apple has released another beta of iPhone OS 4 and SDK to developers. This is the second release of such software since Apple released the first iteration a few weeks ago during Apple’s media event showcasing the new features in the upcoming OS.

This new SDK gives developers access to some 1,500 new APIs, some of which allowing background processes to run in the background (like audio playback). Access to these new APIs of course means more flexibility for developers to create quality iPhone applications.

As for iPhone OS 4. It is slated to be released “this summer”, and will likely be introduced alongside the new iPhone that we’ve been hearing a lot about lately. Also, iPhone OS 4 will not work on first generation iPhones and iPod touches. Lastly, iPhone OS 4 will be on the iPad “this fall.”
