Gizmodo Tears Down iPhone, Another one Still On the Loose?

While Gizmodo still had the stolen next-gen iPhone in their possession, they did have time to take a look under the hood. The only thing really confirmed was that the new iPhone will not have a user removable battery as previously rumored. Other things worth noting are: battery takes up 50% of the device, Circuit board is encased in metal, thermal paste, and black tape. Gizmodo could not dig into the device further without damaging it, so the rest is a mystery as of this moment.

This story keeps getting weirder, however. After that big mess of a story broke over the weekend, there appears to be evidence that a second iPhone prototype is on the loose.

A second set of images, posted on a Chinese twitter account in February show a very similar iPhone as the one Gizmodo got their hands on.

This is odd, and it also suggests that more than one of these things is out in the wild, and out of Apple’s hands. This is very un-Apple like, to say the least.
