iPhone 4.0 adds Gmail archiving to Mail

This isn’t actually a new “feature” as far as I know, but rather a re-labeling of an otherwise confusing feature in 4.0b2 (I don’t see it in b1). Swiping to delete usually does just that, but swiping to delete within the Gmail inbox in the Mail app has been archiving my e-mails for quite some time now (since around January 2009, actually). The only way that users would know about the feature, though, was by word of mouth, the Gmail blog, or seriously intense usage of the Mail app, so turning “delete” into “archive” works out quite nicely.

See? Apple isn’t removing all the Google-related buttons. In fact, they’ve effectively added a new one!
