So unless it comes out and is a big fail I will be getting one. I do have to say that some of th new HTC hardware is looking nice but I have no plans of leaving AT&T at the moment so I doubt I will be getting one. Would be nice to have an incredible to play with though!

It's pretty much what was expected. We already knew Apple wouldn't change the basic design, like changing the screen's aspect ratio or add extra hardware buttons.

I'm disappointed with Gizmodo (apart from the legal and moral issues) because they didn't check the resolution. You could easily determine the approximate resolution by counting some pixel and then extrapolate. Any cheap toy store microscope or strong magnifying glass would do it. I mean they had the device for a week…
That we didn't get any information on the SoC and RAM is also disappointing, but I can understand that Gizmodo didn't want to rip the board apart and potentially damage the device.

What could have been possible and what I would have liked to see, but didn't seem to be there:
1) Dual LED photo flash
2) Status indicator light (e.g. the rectangle on the home button)
3) More always accessible areas of interaction (e.g. extend the capacitive sensors to the area left and right of the home button, similar to the Palm Pre). Because the Home button gets overloaded with functions.
4) Integrated RFID or NFC.

Regarding the JAiB team's comments:
Brandon K: The screen doesn't appear to be noticeably smaller on the side-by-side pictures. I guess it's just a 0.0x" difference (in practice both 3.47" and 3.53" screens get classified as 3.5"). Also the prototype is only 3 grams heavier, I think there's a good chance that the production model might have the same weight as the 3GS.
Patrick: I really hope Apple doubles the RAM to 512MB in the 4th-gen iPhone, but I don't think they will. Apple's already shown that they think that 256MB are enough, even for a tablet with an even higher resolution.

I know I'll end up waiting in line too…

Seriously, I really like what they've done with this iPhone. I find the design to be similar to MacBook Pros — industrial, solid and beautiful. From a features perspective, the high resolution display is going to be the killer feature and that alone is worth the price of admission.

Better camera+flash? Front-facing camera? Bigger battery? Higher-res screen? All this, plus a presumed RAM/processor speed bump and OS 4.0 makes an upgrade a no-brainer for a 3G user like me. I knew that if there was a new phone this summer, I was planning to upgrade, and seeing this "unofficial preview" over the last few days has reinforced that decision. Can't wait to get it.
