Police to Investigate Missing Next-Gen iPhone Case

In the ever increasingly bizarre story behind the lost and found next-gen iPhone, wherein an Apple employee lost a prototype iPhone in a bar not far from Apple headquarters. The device finally made it’s way into the hands of Gizmodo, who reportedly paid $5000 for the device. Legally, it may turn out that they bought stolen goods.

Apple has spoken to local police about the incident and the investigation is believed to be headed by a computer crime task force led by the Santa Clara County district attorney’s office, the source said. Apple’s Cupertino headquarters is in Santa Clara County, about 40 miles south of San Francisco.

It is still unclear as to wether the investigation is targeting the individual(s) who “found” the iPhone, Gizmodo, or both.

This will be fun to watch.
