Features Wish List – Pastebot for iPhone

Pastebot

Pastebot is a superb clipboard manager app for the iPhone.  One of its most powerful features is its ability to sync clipboard items across to a Mac over WiFi.  This is by far and away the most used feature of the app for me.

It is also the source of my biggest feature wish list item for Pastebot: the ability for the desktop companion service to sync with more than one device at a time.  Right now, if I want to use both my iPad and my iPhone to sync things across to my MacBook, I have to go through a little song and dance each time I switch between the two.

If my iPhone is currently set as the sync partner with the desktop service, and I want to sync something over from the iPad, I have to:

— Open System Preferences on the Mac, go to Pastebot Sync’s section, and remove the iPhone as sync partner.

— Go to Pastebot on the iPad, into Settings, remove the MacBook as sync partner.  Add the Macbook again, enter the sync partner authorization code over on the Mac, and close out of Pastebot and go back into it on the iPad.

The same process is necessary when I want to switch back over to the iPhone as sync partner.

While this process is relatively quick to carry out, it’s a big pain in the neck if you frequently sync from more than one device.

This seems like an important feature for Pastebot to add.  The app is a favorite for me on my iPhone, my iPad (running the iPhone version) and on my daughter’s Touch.  The ability to quickly sync things to my Mac from all three is the app’s biggest attraction for me.  The awkwardness of the swapping routine described above is its biggest drawback – and the one flaw that leaves you thinking about seeking other solutions to take its place.

What are some of your wish list items for your favorite iPhone apps?
