HTC Fires Back, Counter-Sues Apple

HTC Corporation has filed a complaint with the International Trade Commission (ITC) in an attempt to stop the importation of iPods, iPads, and iPhones into the United States. The reason for this? HTC is claiming that Apple is infringing on fiver different HTC-held patents.

“We are taking this action against Apple to protect our intellectual property, our industry partners, and most importantly our customers that use HTC phones.”

This counter-suit is in direct response to Apple’s lawsuit against HTC they filed in March. Apple pulled the trigger on the suit, claiming that HTC was infringing on 20 Apple-held patents.

It is believed Apple’s primary aim in the suit isn’t HTC, but instead an indirect attack on Google. After all, HTC is the largest manufacturer of Android (a Google product) devices.
