Split/Second hit the App Store today
[news and video via slide to Play]
Split/Second is a new catastrophe-based racing title from Disney. The next-gen console version looks unbelievable, with gameplay centered around causing giant catastrophes (dams over flowing, helicopters crashing), weaving your way through them, and hoping that your fellow racers don’t. You can’t come in second place if everyone else is buried under rubble ![]()
This is all unbelievably cool on a powerful console, but I’m not sure how well the idea ports to the iPhone. The actual racing frame rate and car models look fine, but the explosions just look a little timid after you’ve seen the 720p version of the game. However, the idea of blowing other cars up with power-ups is still an entertaining one, no matter what resolution it plays out on, so you may still want to check out Split/Second for $6.99 on the App Store.

My favorite game is Asphalt 5, but I've unlocked all I can and am trying to decide what to get next. Need for Speed Undercover looks good, and I saw Real Racing has good reviews, and now there is this. Which should I buy first? I love playing with the accelerometer and am more of a casual arcade gamer. What kept me coming back to Asphalt 5 was the multiple challenges (and earning and applying upgrades/unlocks).
Any advice JAIB folks?
I *will* review Split/Second. Just got a copy of the game for review. Will do my best to update soon.
Krazy Kart is fun as well!
