I have the custom dictionary screen, can add words, but when I go to any app and type, it does not recognize the new custom words.

I don't have any contacts with the surname White and it auto-capitalises it for me too (On the English (UK) keyboard incidentally). This really is a strange quirk on the dictionary. You're far more likely to be referring to the colour than a person's name when you use the word 'white'. Very odd.

If I had to guess, I'd say that you have a contact whose last name is White — thus, it helpfully capitalizes the word for you, thinking that you're referring to your friend. Any truth to my theory?

This will definantly make life easier.

I appreciate the custom dictionaries, but I wish I could remove or edit the default one. For instance I can't understand why the word 'white' auto capitalizes. Not a racial thing but I have yet to need a capitalized 'white' in the middle of a sentence. It means I have to go back and edit the word each time I type it. And that's not the only example of the default dictionaries eccentricities.
