Update: RDM+ now offers a Lite version

A few months ago, I reviewed Remote Desktop for Mobiles (RDM+) which is an excellent way to remotely control a desktop station from your mobile device (available in the App Store here). This has saved me on multiple occasions: whether to help trouble shoot when my wife can ‘t get something to work correctly on our home station; to start an application (like the frequently-failing Orb or even MajicJack); or locate a file and even email it remotely.

Recently the folks at SHAPE Services have released a free ad-supported version in the App Store, RDM+ Lite. I don ‘t have the Lite version so I can ‘t make comment about the impact of streaming ads will have on the speed of operating remotely. Nor do I anticipate the ads ‘ gobbling up valuable real estate on the screen to be very appetizing.

I can, however, report with confidence that RDM+ is worth its weight in gold if you have the need. So trying a free ad-supported version might whet your appetite enough to invest $9.99 in the ad-free version (half the price of what it was in January). Add the RDM + Desktop version to the mix so you can remotely connect to a station using any web browser, and SHAPE Services has surpassed the often advertised, GoToMyPC.
