Adobe Announces Digital Publishing Platform for iPad

Adobe has announced that they are launching a Digital Publishing Platform, that can be used in junction with InDesign CS5 and other publishing tools to help print publishers get their content onto devices like the iPad. Their proof that it works? WIRED’s iPad application that debuted last week.

“Adobe’s work with WIRED has resulted in a digital magazine format that creates an immersive experience, allowing a publication’s unique content, look and feel and advertising to stand out in the digital realm,” said David Burkett, vice president and general manager, Creative Solutions at Adobe. “We aim to make our digital viewer software available to all publishers soon and plan to deliver versions that work across multiple hardware platforms. It’s safe to say that if you are already working in InDesign CS5, you’ll be well on your way to producing a beautiful digital version of your publication.”

Adobe is bragging about the rich-content features included in the platform such as embedded video, and 360-degree images. They also claim that advertisement integration will allow advertisers to reach customers in new ways.

This platform is aimed at tablets, smartphones, and the like.
