Verizon spokesman John Johnson briefly stated to Beet.tv that the company is not planning on carrying the iPhone in the “immediate future.”
Q: Let me ask you first of all about Verizon and the iPhone. What is happening, if anything? What is the status?
A: No one ever asks that question. (Smiles) So, no plans to carry the iPhone in the immediate future, but you’ve gotta look at the incredible excitement around the Android devices…
So, even if Verizon is working with Apple to bring the iPhone to their network, they’re not saying. In the mean time they have to look competitive by pointing customers in the direction of the Android devices they have in stock.
Some reports suggest the iPhone may be on Verizon’s network as early as the end of this year, while some reports don’t peg the release anytime before 2011. We’ll keep you posted.
