With Steve Jobs’ keynote address for WWDC 2010 fast approaching (he’s due to speak at 12PM Central Monday), I found it fascinating to watch this interview of him from back in 2003. He’s interviewed by Walt Mossberg, of the Wall Street Journal and All Things D (at their annual event) – and talks on a range of topics, including Apple’s lack of interest in tablets and PDAs / mobile devices at the time.
It’s quite a long video, but well worth watching all the way through when you have some down time. Here are some of the highlights:
— Steve talking about the (apparent) lack of interest in tablets and mobile devices. The tablet concept at the time was being pushed forward by Microsoft and was all about handwriting on the device, and he was clearly not impressed. He also had some choice words on not wanting to have to deal with phone carrier companies.
— This interview is back in the very early days of iTunes. Steve does a live demo of it for the audience and has some things go wrong during it.
— It’s just big fun to watch him talk. He always seems very straight and candid – admitting times where Apple took their eye off the ball, and mistakes they made.
I couldn’t embed the video, so to see it just click on the image at the top of the post or go to Gizmodo’s post on it here:
