This is what happens when you use iBooks for look-ups in Canada

Posted on 01 Jul 2010 by Thomas

Apparently, we Canadians speak a very different language from the folks in Cupertino, eh?

Update: Aha! It’s really, really not made very obvious, but the dictionary feature of iBooks is actually dependant on the language metatag of the eBook you’re reading. See this post for more information – and thanks to Muero for correcting my mistake.

  1. Why does Apple hate us so much up here in Canada…

Sorry Josh. I didn't understand anything you just said. You guys speak a diff language up there in Ottawa, and my dictionary didn't recognize any of your words.

  2. Muero says:

This has nothing to do with being in Canada, it has to do with the language tag in the EPUB files.

interesting — will check into this, thanks. I assumed it was because the iBookStore has been insanely slow to launch in Canada, and that the iPhone version of the app was even slower. Will update this post if I can get this to work after fiddling around with the app.
