Geohot Can Jailbreak the iPhone 4, but May Not Release Anything
Here ‘s another of those ‘That didn ‘t take long ‘ type moments in the mouse is always beating the cat world of iPhone jailbreaking. It looks like Geohot “ the very first unlocker of the original iPhone and creator of several of the easiest jailbreaks ever “ has got himself an iPhone 4 and didn ‘t find it very challenging to jailbreak it.
Got one of these in the mail today and figured I’d give it a shot.
As far as a release goes, it probably won’t happen from me. limera1n is little more than a raindrop on a website; it was never mentioned by me previous to this post. pwned4life is a complete invention of some blogger in a basement somewhere. When I said pwned for life, I was referring to the original iPhone, 3G, and Touch; which of course are, by the aptly named PwnageTool.
Again, please don’t ask for release dates. Every person that does makes me want to release a little bit less.
Here ‘s hoping that nobody hassles him too much and he decides to issue a new jailbreak app sometime in the not too distant future.

Thanks guys. I've done a new post passing along the latest and linked to your post Sebastien.
I hate to repeat this (been saying it for a while now), but I think way too many people give Geohot props. Yes, he's jailbroken in the past, and we've been happy. But, now it just seems he's toying, or to put it bluntly, 'taking the piss' (yeah, an English term)…
I won't be jailbraking, no need. Albeit, I hope those that want to, get to do so, but via someone else, other than Geohot…
Geohot says he can. Sebastien says he can't but I don't see any evidence on Sebastien's post only an interpretation of Geohot's blog (see my reply on Patrick's follow up post)
Honestly, some of this stuff – with fakes and drama surrounding hacks and jailbreaks – makes me feel more and more indifferent about jailbreaking. Guys like GeoHot and the Dev Team undoubtedly have some amazing skills, but when it gets to all the drama and problems with users asking for things (which I would've thought is absolutely to be expected) I just get dead bored with all of it. Especially now with iOS 4, I don't feel a great enough need to jailbreak to want to care about any of that bullshit.
