Apple's Annual iPod Music Event Scheduled for Mid-September?

All Things D is reporting that Apple’s annual iPod/music media event may be scheduled for mid-September this year, which is just a hair later than the past several years.

According to several sources and as has been widely expected, Apple will once again be holding its annual special event, possibly closer to mid-September this time.

Apple (AAPL), which has had a fall hello-there confab every year since 2005, waited until August 31 last year to announce its “Let’s Rock” event on September 9 at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater in San Francisco.

Last week we heard a report suggesting that the iPod media event was scheduled for mid-August this year, which is considerably ahead of the traditional early-September timeframe. That said, there is only about a week to go before we hit the “mid-August” deadline and Apple still hasn’t sent out media invitations.

It is widely believed that there will be a significantly revamped iPod touch introduced at the event, and possibly the cloud-based iTunes we’ve been hearing so much about over the past year.
