Tlert 4.2.2 for iPhone: iOS 4 compatibility, new icon, new features [Jailbreak]

notice the snazzy new Springboard icon?

Tlert, Intelliborn’s jailbreak texting app, has been updated to work on iOS 4. This actually happened a little while back, but I was on a a sorta-public beta version of the app, and simply didn’t notice that it had gone live. Oops.

Unlike MyWi 4.0, Tlert (and its e-mail brother, Elert) have been updated to work on iOS 4 for free. Unlike Elert, however, Tlert has a few new tricks up its sleeve:

A threaded view of all of your previous messages with a contact can now be seen by tapping on the arrow next to incoming texts. This is something I had hoped for when I reviewed the app last November, and it’s good to see the feature has been included so seamlessly.

The app now supports MMS, and you can even  map an Activator gesture to Tlert’s new “Quick Compose” screen, which works just like the one from the default Messaging.app, except for the fact that it loads right over your current application (just like SBSettings does).

All in all, the whole package works quite nicely. I’d be playing with it more, if I weren’t so busy testing the rapid-fire updates for Notified Pro.

You can download this update for free from the Rock app, provided you bought a previous version of the app. Otherwise, it’ll cost you $6.99 for a new license.

  1. Just downloaded the trial. Coming from QuickReplyForSMS, I'm not sure I like Tlert yet, but it is already (in my opinion) loads better than BiteSMS.
One thing I can't seem to get to work, yet, is the conversation feature. The arrow is not there when I receive a text, and the option "Conversation: Show when multiple" is locked to yes.

I think, once I am able to toggle that, so it doesn't kick me to a full screen conversation without my say so, I may really like it.

Thanks for the review, and letting me know about the app

I'm definitely stuck there. I'm no expert on the app any more (haven't used it in months) and this was intended to be a news posting instead of a full review, but you should definitely be seeing that arrow (like the one in my screenshot). That was a text I got right after re-installing the app for this post, and wasn't even a full conversation. You might try e-mailing the devs at Intelliborn for help on this one.

    • For anyone th at was wondering (prolly no one, heh), the problem was iOS. I just upgraded to iOS 4 last night, and now everything works as it should.

As another note though, I never did receive a response from the developer… but oh well.

      Happy tweaking
