I ‘ve seen quite a few reports round the web this week (e.g. this one) about an interview with the developer of an app pirating app, in which he says that the number of users who have downloaded his app amounts to 4% of total iPhone users.

The last estimate I recall hearing for percentage of jailbroken iPhone users (quite a while back) was around 8.5% of all iPhone users.  So if that number is near accurate, and the one given by the pirating app developer is as well, that means nearly half of all iPhone jalbreakers have at least had a look at pirating apps.

That just feels a shockingly high percentage to me.  Maybe I ‘m being naïve on this, but in all my time spent with our readers here, at other iPhone sites and forums, and on Twitter and other social networks, the iPhone jailbreakers who are dead-set against piracy have always been the vast majority.  Oh, and just for the record, that is absolutely our stance at this site.

So I ‘d love to ask all of you about this one.  I know we have a lot of jailbreakers who visit here.  Have you ever downloaded / used a pirating app?  Is their availability one of your primary reasons for jailbreaking?  What is your stance on pirating apps?  Please share your thoughts in the comments
