If you ‘re still looking for an easy solution to the iPhone 4 Not-AntennaGate issue, and you don ‘t fancy having to use a bumper or case, you might want to take a look at these iPhonePatches

iPhonePatch is a fun, elegant option for the iPhone death grip problem. If you don’t want a big bumper case, just apply this patch to the bottom corner of your IPhone 4 and the problem of shorting out the antenna is patched. This isn’t rocket science, just a simple patch to an annoying problem.

I spotted these via a post by our friend Sebastien at the iPhone Download Blog.  Sebastien seems pleased with his,as it has upped the number of bars he sees at home.

There ‘s a decent little range of options for the patches

I like the dog paws and the barb wire designs.  The patches are $1.50 apiece or $5.99 for a six pack.

  1. David says:

I have found that these simple stickers do not work. I did however, discover kapton tape, which is designed better for this. Search anteneagate and kapton tape on ebay and you will find it.

  2. This is Scotch tape with a pattern, no?

This brings up a question of being meaning to ask. I love my iPhone 4 and I think reception is outstanding. I have used a bumper everyday since launch. I really don't like the look of the bumper, and want to go naked, but given that every antenna is on the OUTSIDE of the phone, I am really concerned about potential damage. Not from drops, but from laying it on concrete or just general nicks. I don't want a body shield or skin.

So my question is: What's been your evaluation of how well the chrome antenna has held up if you've left that part exposed. I am not asking about reception or death grip. I want to know if it has gotten dinged up, or if you take decent care of your phone if that part is relatively resilient. Any takers?
