chpwn explains: no ProSwitcher for iOS 4 [Jailbreak]

Posted on 22 Aug 2010 by Thomas

[Update: Well, that news didn't last long. chpwn tweeted earlier this evening that ProSwitcher is, indeed, making a return. That release is hot on the heels of the latest Multifl0w update, which is pretty damn sexy.]

chpwn recently posted his thoughts on iOS multitasking and how it relates to ProSwitcher, the jailbreak task manager he developed in conjunction with Ryan Petrich. The long and short of it is that he doesn’t have enough time for ProSwitcher upkeep, but also thinks that Apple did a decent job handling multitasking (which is something our own Ray Merkler would disagree with), so the jailbreaking community should be alright without the cool, card-based task manager. There’s also a shout-out to the PalmOS, which was the first mobile operating system I used (and probably the one that got me into mobile tech in the first place).

  1. But Multiflow was just announced and submitted to Cydia and features an Expose-like multitasking interface.

  2. Cuz says:

Hi I downloaded Multifl0w but it doesn’t run like the video shown here.
If I start an app and activate Multifl0w it shows correctly the two apps, but then there are two problems:
1- I cannot select one of the two cause it closes the other.
2- I cannot keep those in background and go to the main screen and select a third app to run.
Do you think it’s a matter of settings? If yes do you know how to set it?
There are very few settings under General.
I was using Proswitcher few months ago and that was working much better for me.

  3. Raymond says:

Yes, multifl0w is out, but Pro-switcher was pretty cool too.
