Pad and Quill Little Black Book for iPhone 4

Posted on 27 Aug 2010 by Thomas

Now here is an unusual case design. The Little Black Book looks just like a Moleskine notebook, but with an iPhone 4-shaped hole where the pages would be. Now I don’t own an iPhone 4 myself, but I did requisition one for an afternoon for a little bit of testing and picture taking.

Overall, I think this form factor works beautifully for iPads, but the Pad and Quill design is of questionable utility when fitted for the iPhone.

I found it easy enough to insert or remove the iPhone 4 from the case (the bookmark is a nice touch), and there are cut-outs for all of the buttons and ports. However, one major complaint I have is the lack of a camera cut-out, which forced me to remove the device from the case to take a picture. The camera lens is blocked by the case, so you can’t take any photos, unless you’re okay with taking fixed-focus VGA resolution shots with the front-facing camera (I’m not).

The Little Black Book is beautiful and very well bound and put together, but I just don’t think this idea fits the iPhone’s form factor. However, if you’re of a different opinion, you can pick one up for your iPhone 4 or 3GS for about $40 from www.padandquill.com.

That is straight up hideous. Yeah, let's rip off dodocase's design and miniaturize it. Lame.
