Facebook CTO Feels 'Very Confident' About a Ping Deal

Silicon Alley Insider is reporting that Facebook Chief Technology Officer Brent Taylor has said that he is “very confident” that Facebook and Apple will come to an agreement to work together on Apple’s new Ping social feature in iTunes 10.

At a dinner with New York media last night, Facebook CTO Bret Taylor said he is “very confident” Facebook and Apple will figure out a way to work together on Ping, Apple’s music social network.

Right after iTunes 10 was released to the public, Ping had a Facebook Connect feature built in, but it was quickly pulled by Apple. Other reports claim that Apple and Facebook were in negotiations for 18 months before Apple launched Ping at the beginning of last month. Reportedly, the two companies are still in negotiations, and no agreement has been met.
