It looks like this should be a great weekend for those who want to jailbreak their latest generation iOS devices. The much-anticipated new GreenPois0n jailbreak is expected to be released this Sunday, October 10th, at 10:10AM GMT – quite a catchy release time the devs are aiming for.

Just in case you’re curious, the GreenPois0n lockscreen image above is from a Cydia theme (one of many apparently), shared by Matthew over at the iPhone Download Blog.

One big thing we know about this upcoming new jailbreak is that it will only jailbreak the latest generation  of iOS devices – as in it only supports the iPhone 4, the iPad, and the iPod Touch 4G. Sebastien at iPhone Download Blog also reports though that another new jailbreak is being worked on for the iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch 3G.

The biggest thing we do not yet know is whether this new jailbreak will be tethered (meaning that it requires you to re-jailbreak every time you reboot your device) or untethered. The developers of GreenPois0n have stated that this will be a surprise on the day of release. I’m going to go with Sebastien’s thought on this – that they are unlikely to want to deliver a negative surprise when they launch GreenPois0n, so hopefully we should get an untethered jailbreak.

I’ll definitely be looking out for this new jailbreak early Sunday morning, and giving it a go on my iPhone 4 and iPad WiFi model – as long as it is untethered.
