Apple Releases Firmware Updates to Address Charging Issues with 2007-2008 MacBooks and MacBooks Pros

Apple has released two separate firmware updates for Macbook and MacBook Pros made in 2007 and 2008, that addresses an issue with these particular machines not charging correctly when used with the “L-shaped” MagSafe power adapters.

This firmware update addresses an issue with certain MacBook and MacBook Pro models from 2007-2008 that prevents them from charging with new power adapters.

Apple’s support document states that the following models are affected:

– MacBook (13-inch Late 2007)
– MacBook Pro (17-inch, Early 2008)
– MacBook Pro (15-inch Early 2008)
– MacBook (13-inch, Early 2008)
– MacBook (13-inch, Late 2008)

Apple Introduced the “L-shaped” MagSafe adapter alongside the MacBook Air, due to the machine’s slim form-factor. After complaints of the old “straight” MagSafe adapters overheating, Apple has since transitioned to the “L-shaped” adapter for all of their notebook lines.
