Apple Hosting ‘Back to the Mac’ Event Next Week

Apple Back to Mac event

Apple is hosting  another special event next week – this one is titled ‘Back to the Mac’ and is set to take place next Wednesday, October 20th.

As usual, Apple hasn’t yet provided any detail on what the event will cover, other than what can be gathered from the title of the event and the image used on the invite. Given the lion image used on the invite, updates to Mac OS X seem likely to be a focus. Andy Ihnatko, one of the A-listers who received an invite, also thinks we may hear about any initiative that would be powered by Apple’s new ‘Death Star’ – as in, their ginormous new data center in North Carolina. iTunes in the Cloud or major changes to MobileMe might fit into that category.

Maybe we’ll hear about an App Store for Mac apps; although I have a feeling that’s somewhere farther down the road I sure wouldn’t vote against it.

What do you all think? What are your best guesses on what Apple may announce next week? And your wish list items?
