More Evidence Surfaces Suggesting That Apple Plans to Build a Second Data Center in North Carolina

Another day has passed and more evidence has surfaced suggesting that Apple has/had plans to build a second data center on the same site as the new North Carolina data center that is so new, it has yet to go live.

All Things Digital has continued to look into the story and has found an image on Flickr posted by Catawba County, North Carolina (where the new data center was built), that shows a schematic with two buildings present, alongside the building that is currently present. The image is dated at July 2009, which suggests that Apple always intended to build two data centers on that site since the beginning.

Additionally, MacRumors has found that each building (including the current one) would total at around 1 million square feet.

Whatever it is that Apple plans to use these data centers for, they are banking heavily on it.
