Fruit Ninja’s Arcade Mode is here!

Posted on 05 Nov 2010 by Thomas

If you own a copy of Fruit Ninja ($0.99 on iPhone, $4.99 on iPad) or can steal the iOS device of someone who does, you owe it to yourself to try the new update out, especially for the new game mode.

Arcade mode provides you with one minute to rack up a high score (as opposed to Zen Mode’s 90 seconds). There are also bombs on-screen, but, unlike in Normal Mode, hitting them will subtract 10 points from your score instead of insta-gibbing you.

The best parts of this whole update, however, are the new banana power-ups that you can slice and dice for temporary benefits. One banana slows down time (Banana time!), one throws extra fruits onto the screen (Bananarama!), and the final one temporarily doubles your scoring capability (banana banana!).

I dare say this is the best update to Fruit Ninja thus far, and it makes for a great injection of adrenaline that gets you right in the heart. Hats off to Halfbrick Studios on this one!
