The App Hall of Fame has a shiny, fresh group of inductees for November 2010 – shown in the screencap above. This is only the second batch of winners for the new App HOF, so once again there are some very familiar names. Names that you instantly associate with massively popular and critically acclaimed iOS apps – from Facebook (one of the earliest hits on the App Store) to monster games like Pocket God, to killer productivity apps like Dropbox and Omnifocus. All hugely deserving inductees.
As many of you likely know, Apple has also recently added an App Hall of Fame section to the App Store. It emerged quite a while after the original App Hall of Fame – which was created by Jeff Scott and the folks at 148apps, who also run the excellent annual Best App Ever Awards – was up and running. The more good exposure for great iOS apps the merrier I say, though I have to admit to a fair bit of bias on this topic – as I’m a member of the selection committee at the original App Hall of Fame along with a whole bunch of excellent iOS-related site owners, editors, and writers who bring a wealth of apps knowledge to the table. I have no idea who chooses the Hall of Fame apps for the App Store section – as I haven’t seen any information from Apple on how their selections are made or who makes them.
