I thought I would take a few moments during the work day to share two handy plugins, that, for any Mac user who spends more than a few hours a day online at work, can dramatically improve your overall web experience all while keeping your hardware running as cool and efficiently as possible.
The first of which is ClicktoFlash. This plugin simply blocks all Flash content on webpages in Safari, all while allowing you to click on the Flash content (which shows up as grey squares) you wish to load. This plugin also manages a whitelist of websites which you can use to permanently allow Flash content to run. (like Pandora for instance).
The second plugin is a popular Safari extension called Adblock (which is also a Mozilla Firefox Extension). Together, these two may seem like overkill, but I have found that there are many sites where I prefer the main content load, minus the Flash content along the sides.
Many new MacBook Air owners are reporting serious battery life improvements due to the lack of Flash. Let us know if you found this tip helpful and if you have any other great browsing tips/tricks/plugins that make your life easier.
