Boxcar – the excellent notifications handling app for the iPhone and iPad – has had a big new update, to Version 4.0. Here’s what’s new:

* Awesome new icons!
* Retina display support
* Centralized inbox
* Google Buzz, Google Voice, Github, App Recommendations, and more!
* More alert settings
* Reply and Retweet right from Boxcar
* Bug fixes

I think the support for new services – particularly Google Voice – is the most exciting thing about the update. This has been my favorite notifications app for a long while, it’s good to see that it is still being improved.

You can find this latest version of Boxcar in the App Store now, and it is a free app.
