iOS 4.2 Now Available: iPad Multitasking, AirPlay & More

If you hadn’t already heard the news, the much anticipated iOS 4.2 software for the iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch is now available to download.

To get your hands on the software, simply plug in your device and click on the ‘Check for Update’ button within iTunes.

The latest iOS software brings some awesome new features to your device, especially for iPad users:

We’ve been multitasking on our iPhones for a while now, but the introduction of the feature to the iPad makes a massive difference. Now it’s incredibly easy to switch to and from applications on your device without having to start from scratch when you open them back up again.

Another feature we’ve been enjoying on the iPhone – Folders are a great way of managing the many pages of apps cluttering up your iPad’s home screen in to categories for easy, organized access.

AirPlay is another great feature that will please users of the new AppleTV. With AirPlay you can effortlessly stream movies and music from your Mac, iPhone or iPad straight to your TV. Start watching a movie on the train on your way home from work, then continue where you left off on your TV when you get home.

Sent emails, photos, documents, and web pages straight from your iOS device to a printer shared via your Mac, or directly to a printer compatible with AirPrint.

Find My iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch is a feature that many MobileMe users have been used to for a while – it uses your device’s GPS to pinpoint its location on a map allowing you to track it if it’s lost or stolen. Until today you could only use the feature with a paid MobileMe subscription, however, it’s now free for iPhone 4, iPad, and iPod Touch 4th-gen users.

Other features in this update include 17 new message alerts for the iPhone, Game Centre for the iPad, the ability to reply to calendar invitations, and a whole lot more!
