iPad Production Increased with Foxconn Opening New Chengdu Factory

25A3806D-4F26-424D-A7AB-6A68F709EC19.jpgDigiTimes is reporting that Foxconn, one of Apple’s manufacturing partners, has started up iPad production lines at their new plant in Chengdu, China. These new lines only add an additional 300,000 iPads each month to production, but Foxconn plans to ramp up to 50 production lines, which could produce 40 million iPads per year.

Foxconn had previously refuted claims that the company would establish iPad production lines at the plants in Chengdu, but related component players have pointed out that Foxconn already started shipping iPads from the site in November and expected the site to become a major supply base starting the first quarter of 2011.

Foxconn currently pumps out 2.5 million iPads per month, the majority of which comes from their Shenzhen facility.

So, Apple plans to do nothing but make more of these things. This isn’t just as fad, this is a lasting device.
