Bidding You a Fond Farewell: Mactropolis Acquired by iSource.com

Mr. MayorWell folks, it’s been quite a ride. Since I built Mactropolis way back in October of 2007 (yes, it’s been over 3 years!) a lot has gone down. We’ve seen the iPhone rise to prominence, and all sorts of new hardware and software goodness hit the Apple scene. In short, much has happened… and things have changed.

To that end, my own personal life and business has evolved. I’m busier than ever with my own consulting company, and while the business is growing, I’m having a hard time focusing my efforts here at Mactropolis. That’s why, when I was approached by the folks at iSource.com with a potential buy-out offer, the timing seemed right, and it felt like a potential win/win for all parties involved (including our editors).

I’m happy to report that after some negotiation, the good folks at iSource.com have acquired Mactropolis… and in the end, bigger and better things will fill this space as a result. Your editors Alex and Killian will remain on-board to cover everything Apple, along with a new team of knowledgeable writers. You’re going to get MORE coverage, MORE Apple goodness, MORE contests, basically MORE of everything you’ve come to love here at Mactropolis. I have a feeling you’re going to love it.

Before I close, I do have a few thank you’s I’d like to make.

First off, to all of the editors past and present that have helped me out. You know who you are. Your time, contributions and efforts have been much appreciated and I can’t thank you enough.

Second, I’d like to single out Alex Jordan for the work he’s done over the past few years. Alex has been a rock, and has been posting at Mactropolis with great regularity, bringing you all the Apple news you can handle. Alex, a *tip of the cap* to you my friend, and I wish you well with your new digs at iSource.

Third, to all of my friends, family and colleagues that have encouraged me along the way, a big thank you has to go your way as well.

Fourth, to Jeff McWard and the team at WeHostMacs.com and IN-Depth for providing hosting for Mactropolis. Your service has been solid to say the least.

Last, but certainly not least, I’d like to thank YOU, the reader. Without your interest there would never have been a Mactropolis, so thank you for gracing these pages for the past three years.

You can expect to see changes here over the next few days as the iSource team and I work towards ‘flipping the switch’ on the new site.

All good things come to an end, people move on, and yes, even a humble ‘Mayor’ knows when the time is right to move on. With that, I leave you with one final *tip of the cap*.

Stay tuned for more goodness… and thank you so much for everything, it’s been a wild ride.

Oh, and one last thing: If you’d like to stay in contact, feel free to follow me @JamesFalconer. Let’s stay in touch 🙂
