3M Now Doing iPhone Screen Protectors

There are a number of good options available if you want some screen protection for your iPhone or iPad – and if you’ve had an iDevice for any length of time you should know that you absolutely do want screen protection.

3M is a big, blue-chip name – maybe most famous for its Post-it Notes and Scotch tape product lines – but not one that I’ve ever noticed as an accessory maker for iOS devices, until now. Today I got an email press release on their new 3M Natural View Screen Protector for iPhone 4.

They now have a range of screen protectors for the iPhone 4, the iPhone 3G (though not the 3GS or at least not that I could spot), and the iPad.

Here’s more detail on their Natural View Screen Protector for the iPhone 4:

  • 3M™ Natural View for Apple® iPhone® 4 (2.17″ x 4.39″ or 55.0mm x 111.5mm)
  • Provides durable screen protection
  • Crystal clear
  • Scratch resistant
  • Stay clean edges
  • Works with device stylus and most resistive displays
  • Easy on/off
  • Lifetime warranty

The iPhone 4 protector goes for $14.95 for a kit with two sheets in it. These appear to be front / screen only with no full-body option. You can also buy a pack of ten for $74.75. The iPad protector is priced at $29.95 for the kit with two sheets.

I haven’t tried one out yet, but it’s good to see a blue-chip name like 3M dipping their toes in the iOS accessory market.
