OT: Grooveshark and its new Flash-Free interface

This is ever-so-slightly off topic, but not entirely. Grooveshark is a great web app and streaming service that lets you create playlists and play most any song you’d like — for free (though there are Pro accounts available). I use Grooveshark quite often for sampling songs in their entirety before deciding to buy them, but it’s also one of my favourite ways of showing my favourite songs to friends.

The app recently switched from a Flash-based interface to one written entirely in HTML-5, and this new version seems to load a fair amount faster than the previous one. It also looks a lot better now, but that’s probably more to do with the new design than HTML5.

Unfortunately, this new interface doesn’t seem to work on my iPhone 3GS, since Grooveshark still Flash to actually play music (according to Downloadsquad). Ah well, I had to try…
