White iPhone 4 To Be Released in Spring 2011?

So it looks like the mythical white iPhone 4 may finally get released in the Spring of next year.

Some of the new signage going up in Apple Stores around the country has a little news item: The white iPhone will be available Spring 2011.

I guess the obvious question if this is accurate, is why? Why not just offer a white model for the iPhone 5 and not release this one just a few months before it becomes a previous generation model? Are there really a lot of people who want a white one badly enough to purchase one that late in the model refresh cycle?
