Following the recent report that the next-generation iPad will have a larger “wide-range speaker”, a report from Electronista featuring mock-up images that back up the previous report, has surfaced. Specifically, this new image shows the a case mock-up with a large, grille on the back of the device, and a large camera lens at the top.
The only reason these reports matter, is the fact that if case manufacturers are paying enough attention to create mock-ups or, in some cases even prototypes, that means they trust the information they are getting from Apple part suppliers enough to invest money in it. If that’s the case, then it’s a pretty good indicator of what a future Apple product could look like.
With all of that said, I don’t believe the speaker will look, or be positioned like that on the new iPad. Think about it. Either holding it, or leaving it on a table or anything of the sort- the speaker will be muffled by the surface that the iPad is sitting on. We’ll see here soon enough, as it’s been rumored that the new iPad will be released as early as this February, or as late as sometime in June.
