AppleInsider has uncovered a report from MacOtakara, a Japanese blog, which claims that the forthcoming next-generation iPad may have a different encasing compared to the current model.
Specifically, the report claims that the next iPad will retain the same 9.7-inch display, however, the overall size of the device will be reduced by 3mm, slimming down the black bezel surrounding the device’s screen.
Also, the new iPad will reportedly have a flat back panel much like the current fourth-generation iPad. The ambient light sensor will reportedly be moved to the back of the device in a 3mm hole, and the giant hole seen in recently in some cases, is reportedly for a “large wide-ranged speaker unit covered with metal mesh.”
So, add all of these features, which sound reasonable to me, to the mountain of other rumored features such as two cameras, and it sounds like the next-generation is going to be a fantastic next step for the iPad.
