Final Cut Pro Update to Arrive in March or April?

639275.jpgHardmac is reporting that Apple plans to ship the next version of their Final Cut products sometime in March or April. They claim that the new version will still have “substantial” new features, but won’t have all of the new features that Apple had previously hoped to ship.

The report also notes that Apple currently has two internal beta of Final Cut, one running on Snow Leopard, and another running on a beta of Apple’s upcoming OS- 10.7 Lion. They claim that the the version for Lion will have features built specifically for that OS. Which is interesting considering that the report claims that the new Final Cut will be out in the spring, yet Lion is slated for release until “Summer”.

The report also throws in other tidbits, such as Apple’s impending discontinuation of their Xserve line of machines. It seems that several large-scale users of the machines, are expressing concern over the discontinuation, and Apple may be looking into ways to keep the line in production.

Lastly, the report mentions Blu-Ray, and Apple CEO Steve Jobs’ supposed distaste for the technology. Specifically, the report stats that Jobs is “ashamed” to have Apple’s name associated with Blu-ray. How are the two currently associated you ask? Well, Apple has been sitting on the Blu-ray Disc Association’s board of directors since 2005.

In short, expect a new Final Cut Pro this spring, Xserves will likely still be cancelled, and Apple still won’t adopt Blu-ray.
