Verizon Snapping Up iPhone Domains. Not So Fast.

Domains such as iphoneforverizon.com and iPhoneonverizon.com have both been transferred to Verizon Wireless Trademark Services, LLC, the same company that also holds Verizonwireless.com.

This sounds particularly promising until you realize that these domains were handed over to Verizon way back in November of 2008. These domains have just been sitting there for two years, and still only point to a domain parking page.

Now, instead of totally dismissing these domain names as other media outlets have done, I’m going to offer a different point of view. Most are dismissing these as useless because they’ve been sitting since 2008. However, I see something more along the lines of Apple and Verizon have been in negotiations since sometime around November 2008. It’s a guess, but little is really known about a Verizon/Apple iPhone deal.
