I for one would jump at the chance if they could offset some of the early termination fees. I have two IPhones, one for me, one for my son. The contract on my son’s expired in November 2010, so will most likely switch him asap. As for me, I have a contract through July 2012. If Verizon would apply my company discount to all of the IPhone services, I may jump over! Most definitely will jump once my contract ends!

Id like to say Its AMAZING how ppl whine and moan and groan , of course its your fault that you had overages. you think its someone else’s problem that you were yapping constantly every month? but a company should say here let me grab you a tissue and wipe your tears and say ‘ohh no worries, we will cover your 300 dollar overage. yeah right. own a business and tell me you would give a customer 300 dollars for something that was there fault. IGNORANCE! minutes and overages is 100 percent accurate and cant be said it happened when it didnt happen. you used minutes so you know as part of a legal contract that you cover whatever overage you inquire over the course of a contract. with att you have “roll over mins” but at the same time an estimated 8% of the customers actually have to dig into there overage mins, so you can go ahead and try your hardest to get to your 100000 roll over mins when they dont charge you any less per month on it. again as an employee im glad we dont have to deal with you as a customer. OUT!

Your situation on Verizon may be normal for your location, but it certainly isn’t in most areas of the country. I have 4 bars on both 3G (EV-DO) and 2G (1X) essentially no matter where I go–as long as I’m not in a basement.

1) AT&T locked me into a new 2-year contract when I upgraded to the iPhone 4 last June. The change fee is outrageous right now. I suspect this will keep many people from jumping ship immediately.
2) A new iPhone has been released just about every summer. When I switch, I want to get the next big step forward. I compare it to skipping the 3GS and waiting for the 4. I’ll wait for the next leap forward beyond the iPhone 4.

I will guarantee you 80% of your calls will be dropped if you are 6 miles from a verizon tower. I live in a county that has several cell towers and more then 80% of my calls are dropped. It usually takes 3 calls to finish a conversation.

This isn’t a stretch, about twice a year I go over the 1400 minute plan the family has…to have around 5000 rollover minutes bails me out though. I’ll take that.

Why? Well, one of my last bills was overage (of course I was to blame) but hadn’t come close for probably a year or two, but then, when I got this great $330 bill (normally $70), I called, asked for some assistance…um, none. Everyone has been hyping customer care with Verizon for years, but they have lacked for a long time. They kept my old line active at a business for over a year and a half (the company took it over and “cancelled it”…um, no) Verizon is a huge company that deserves credit for decent voice connectivity, but the amount of Blackberry’s, Android devices and Palm’s that have been running 3G that I’ve seen…I would have gladly taken Sprint over Verizon and I know how bad Sprint’s service is. Look, iPhone on Verizon might help some in NYC and SF or will show up as a terrible boon for Apple. They better know how to make a CDMA phone, otherwise, people will begin to blame Apple, just what Apple doesn’t need.

More AT&T bandwidth for me! Seriously though, the addition of Verizon will be a very good thing for everyone. AT&T isn’t going to wither and die, and their service should definitely improve over time. We also might get some price competition as a result, although I won’t hold my breath for that necessarily. I am definitely looking forward to this.

Is not that great!!! I was in Dallas TX a few weeks ago and my iPhone always had full bars the whole time. Not in L.A. 2 or 3 bars most of the time

I may be an AT&T employee but I’m also a paying consumer. AT&T doesn’t even give us an employee discount on the iPhone and the service is lousy. I have no reason to keep shelling out almost 100 bucks to AT&T other than some illogical misplaced loyalty.

Everyone (including myself) has complained about the dropped calls and overall crapiness that is the AT&T’s network, but I can’t help but think Verizon will have some similar issues in handling the volume that the typical iPhone user brings to a network. What’s more, it makes no sense (financially) to pay the ETF associated with the switch only to buy a similar phone with Verizon. If I do switch, it’ll be after a new phone is announced this summer – and only if it’s a significant upgrade. Otherwise, I’ll wait until after my contract with AT&T expires next summer and after Verizon has had some time to work out the kinks. Because we’re all living in a delusionary world if we think it’s going to be all double rainbows and butterflies with the iPhone on Big Red.
