Next-Generation iPad to Have SD Card Slot and High Resolution Screen, iPhone 5 to be Equipped with A5 Processor?

Engadget is reporting details of the second generation iPad, the next-generation iPhone, and next-generation Apple TV.

First off, they claim that the next-generation iPad will remain the same size, but be equipped with a higher resolution screen that is similar in quality to the iPhone 4’s Retina Display. They also claim that the new model will have an SD Card slot, and come equipped with two cameras. One in the front for FaceTime, and one in the back for other uses.

Next up, Engadget claims that Apple will be moving to Qualcomm as the supplier of the communication chipsets. This will allow Apple to manufacture one iPhone model that will work with both Verizon’s CDMA network, and AT&T’s GSM network. Of course, at the moment Apple is having to produce two distinct models for each carrier. The report also claims that the next-generation iPhone will have a new design, and sport a Cortex A9-based multicore processor, that will be rebranded by Apple as the A5 chip. This new A5 chip is said to also make it’s way into the next-generation Apple TV.

All of these features sound like reasonable expectations to me. Except, I’ll take the gamble and say that the A5 makes it’s way to the next iPad as well. Pixel densities similar to the iPhone 4, but on a screen the size of he iPad will require a tremendous amount of horsepower to move around.
