Apple Pushes Out iOS 4.3 Beta 2 to Developers [UPDATED]

Screen shot 2010-12-13 at 9.35.54 PM.pngJust one week after the release of the first beta, Apple has released iOS 4.3 beta 2 to developers. Just like the last beta, this release is for iPad, iPhone 4, 3GS, third and fourth-generation iPod touch, and Apple TV.

The first beta introduced such features as Wi-Fi hotspot, and video streaming support to developers to be used in third-party apps, and the ability to decide if the iPad’s hardware switch is to be used for mute, or screen rotation lock.

One thing removed from this beta however, is the four and five finger gestures that we saw in the previous beta. A four finger gesture would switch between apps, where as a five finger pinch would close the open app. Apple only included it in the previous beta to gain input from developers, and will not be making it’s way to the customer release of iOS 4.3.

At least we now know that the next generation iOS devices will have a home button.

[UPDATE] As one of our readers pointed out in the comments, Apple has not yet removed these gestures from iOS 4.3 beta as I had originally reported. The feature is still there. However, it is being reported that Apple will not be bringing it to the public release. Sorry for the mix up.
