A Few Good Alternative Mac App Icons

The (frequent) changes to the Twitter for Mac icon made me reflect on some of the other icons on my MacBook, so yesterday I took my curiousity to Google and replaced almost all of my frequently used app icons with free versions from ’round the net.

I’ve assembled the links to the various icons below and have credited the original designers (an extra thanks goes out to @willw for digging out an icon from Feb 2008 within two hours of my asking on Twitter).

[By the way, if you’re not sure on how to replace Mac App icons, don’t worry. It’s pretty simple and safe, and you should be able to work it out from the instructions I wrote up in a previous post on Twitter. However, if those instructions still aren’t clear enough, GigaOm has a great visual guide to help you all the way through the process.]

  • make sure to rename icon “notality.icns”

  • originally for “Speaker Broadcast”, but I repurposed it for Airfoil
