I also saw something, I think from iFixit, suggesting that it also just pushes devices towards being obsolete more quickly if we cannot do things like replace batteries or failed components.

@Jesus – I have no idea. I imagine they might well spot that if you were in for a hardware-related issue, and maybe then they’d use it as grounds to deny service.
