All started from fresh spring board, seems random. Can’t get cydia to show at all. Shame as this is awesome, just can’t replace Apple switcher just yet, stupid to have to use both!?

Great article.

A great point, Al, but I’m being rather paranoid about my jailbreaking these days. Ashikase won’t like that I’m saying this (sorry!), but I’m just trying to keep as little as possible installed, and despite all sorts of testimonials to the contrary, I always “feel” like extras such as Winterboard (with, say, one basic theme activated) and Backgrounder somehow slow my device down a bit.

I totally admit that this comes down to a kind of voodoo treatment of computing, but in my experience, sometimes it just doesn’t make sense. Sometimes I need to throw salt over my shoulder or not install one or two things.

Anyway, I over-explained, but thanks for the tip. I’ll definitely give it a shot if I get too annoyed with this (it’s just a minor annoyance for now).

Developer Aaron Ash is, at the very least, aware of this: https://twitter.com/aaronash/status/30346089349521408

Yeah. I just tested this and got the same thing, and I can definitely see how it could be annoying as hell if you have no idea what’s going on (nice job figuring it out). I’ll see if we can ping the dev with this thread on Twitter.

Nice mini-review. I agree that Multifl0w is awesome and I use it 90% of the time instead of Apple’s slow and limited task switcher.

However I have found a significant bug or limitation, which I’ll be interested to hear if you can replicate. Multifl0w often doesn’t show all the apps I have open (some will be clearly still open going by Apple’s task switcher, but aren’t visible in Multifl0w’s expose or card view). This seems to be tye case whenever I click a link from any program to open Safari, or whenevr I use Apple’s own task switcher to switch between programs.

For example if you have Reeder installed, click a link to open Safari, then activate Multifl0w and you’ll probably notice that Reeder is not visible. Go to your Apple task switcher and you’ll see it’s definitely still running in the background. However if you use Multifl0w to background Reeder first (simply by activating Multifl0w from within Reeder, then return to Reeder) then click a link in Reeder to open Safari and it WILL be visible from Multifl0w.

The problem seems to stem from the fact that Multifl0w has no way of knowing if a program is running in the background, if you use Apple’s task switcher/click links to background it.

It seems like a trivial bug, and for the most part it is, however it’s the only thing preventing me from abandoning Apple’s task switcher altogether, so it’s an annoyance that the above example is the only time I still need to use it. I’ve even moved the task switcher’s iPod/Rotation Lock controls directly onto my dock thanks to the cool mod “ScrollingBoard”, so I don’t even need to open Apple’s crappy task switcher for that 🙂

Look forward to hearing your thoughts on this.
