MacRumors is reporting that supplies for the 15 and 17-inch MacBook Pro supplies at Apple retail and third-party stores are beginning to run thin. We usually see this ahead of product refreshes, as Apple tries to clear out inventory.

The report goes on to note that the 17-inch model appears to be in shortest supply, with Amazon quoting customers a 1-2 month shipping period. However, Apple is still quoting a 24 hour shipping timeframe.

That brings us to the point that the MacBook Pro line is due for a refresh at any time. So, if you’re planning on buying a MacBook Pro in the near future, you should probably hold off if you can. That said, I wouldn’t expect much more than a modest refresh, and nothing revolutionary. Just a processor speed bump and the like.
