
The Loop is reporting that News Corp and Apple are issuing invitations for an upcoming media event slated for February 2nd at 11AM at the Guggenheim Museum in New York. What are they doing? Introducing The Daily, a new publication focused for tablet-like devices, and being introduced for the iPad.
The publication will be introduced by Eddy Cue, Apple’s Vice President of Internet Services. Reportedly, Apple and News Corp worked together to form a new recurring billing feature that would tap into iTunes accounts via a subscription payment model. Also, the Daily is reportedly set to cost 99¢ a week after an introductory free period.
I will temper my liberal bias and overall distaste for News Corp by saying I wish The Daily all the best of luck, and hope that this is a forerunner for similar future publications from other companies.
