Recent reports regarding extremely low stock levels for Apple’s current line of MacBook Pros have led to speculation that a product refresh is coming in the not too distant future. Further evidence to support these claims has emerged from 9to5 Mac today, after they received screenshots from the Best Buy store inventory that lists a new MacBook Pro system with a March 11th, 2011 release date.
The listing in Best Buy’s system files the product under “Dummy SKU,” however, another screenshot (below) does display a price tag of $1,199, which is the current price of the low-end 13-inch MacBook Pro. This indicates that when the announcement does come, there may not be a change to the line up’s price structure.
Although Best Buy lists the device with an availability date of “03-11-2011,” 9to5 Mac points out that this is the date on which the store will have the item in stock, and may not necessarily be the date on which it launches. There is traditionally a few days between the announcement of a product and its availability through Best Buy.
Of course, the screenshots above could just be of test or sample listings that in truth mean nothing at all, however, they will undeniably fuel rumors surrounding an imminent MacBook Pro refresh, and they have certainly got me excited!
